Description

8/8/2015 EDIT: Plausible wings, baby!

Da da dah~

Figured I should do Lance and Charla in the same style as Meredy and Nuala, just because. I think this is the first time I've drawn Charla looking like she should in Firelight. I always seem to draw her older. She should be all short and chubby, like Spyro and Cynder were in ANB/TEN.

Lance's neck is a tiiiny bit too short, but it would be to much hassle to fix, so bleh. Let's just say his long neck hasn't grown in yet. :XD:

Aaand here's where I ramble about the characters. Feel free to skip! =P (Again, minor spoilersss if you haven't read Firelight)

Charla
Charla's egg was at the temple on the night of the raid. Lucky for her, a pair of apes squabbled over who got to smash her egg and, in the resulting scuffle, it rolled out of the building, down a slope and into the bushes. There, it was later discovered by one Jayce Bladelizard, a slightly unintelligent and quite greedy ape who convinced himself it was a large egg-shaped gem and took it back with him to the barracks at the Well of Souls. Needless to say, once it hatched, Jayce found himself in a very sticky situation.

Charla survived her childhood at the Well of Souls with the help of Jayce himself and an old dragon-loving ape called Silverback. But a few weeks or so before Firelight starts, Charla ends up alone lost in the wilderness and begins her quest back to the Well of Souls, though she's got no idea where it is now, hoping to find and rescue Jayce and Silverback. That is, if they're even still alive.

Charla is, in a word, cheerful. She's experienced a lot of dark and terrifying things in her short life, but that's not going to stop her from looking on the bright side. She believes that, as long as she's still alive, she should keep smiling. Charla is somewhat boisterous, overconfident, overtrusting and very much the optimist. Though she's prone to making rash decisions and doesn't always have the presence of mind to listen to authority, it's hard not to appreciate her unfaltering cheerfulness.

Lance
If there was one word Lance could use to describe himself, it would be 'proud.' But what he doesn't want everyone to know is that he's actually just stubborn. A wanderer who hails from a distant mountaintop village in the east known as Jord Haven, Lance hasn't seen his home or used his element (earth) for four years. He is determined never to use his element again and pins this to a promise he made to his brother just before he left home.

Lance met Charla while held prisoner in a large ape encampment, where he'd been for three weeks, without food, chained to a pole. Though initially too proud to allow Charla to free him, he gave in and let her bring him food in the hopes that it would allow him to grow strong enough to free himself. Unfortunately that plan didn't work out, and Charla freed him from his chains while blowing up most of the ape encampment in the process. Lance swore his life to her and they've been travelling together ever since.

Lance is the sensible sort, bearing the wisdom that comes with wandering the wilds of a war-torn world for four years. A lot of the time, his instincts are right and he knows it. Unfortunately, Charla doesn't listen to him all that much. A little introverted, Lance doesn't like to talk about his past or himself except to those he likes and trusts. His stubbornness often overrides his common sense and he can be a little too distrusting, unlike Charla. Protective instinct runs through his veins.
